Peyton Manning had a lot of great seasons during his 18-year NFL career, but 2015 wasn’t one of them.
The likely Hall of Fame quarterback officially announced his retirement Monday, one month removed from his second career Super Bowl win.
Despite the fact Manning won his final game, 2015 was forgettable for the all-time great. He appeared in just 10 regular-season games and posted career lows in passing yards, passer rating and touchdown passes, while his 17 interceptions were the third-most of his career.
Not great.
As Manning prepared to say his tearful goodbye to football, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams reminded all of us on Twitter how much No. 18 struggled in his swan song.
Look Peyton is a hall of fame qb who couldn't play dead in a western last year but career over all is astonishing but last year was 💩😷

Williams also said Jimmy Clausen’s 2010 season with the Carolina Panthers — Williams was on that team — was better than the season Manning just had.
Look at 2010 jimmy stats vs Peyton manning 2015 stats not including wins and then apologize to me later😏 https://t.co/XfxK9eNR8Y

That, however, might be a bit of an exaggeration. Clausen appeared in 13 games in 2010, his rookie season, completing just 52.5 percent of his 299 pass attempts. He threw for just three touchdowns, but he technically threw fewer interceptions (three) than Manning did, and technically those three picks came at a less frequent rate.
Williams then spent some more time making some very good points, if we’re being honest.
Wow you really said that? You have truly made my point https://t.co/3sPxTb1Qig

That's not a picture of the Denver defense nor is it Von Miller so I will wait https://t.co/oPhCR9S6wU

Of course, we must mention it was Manning and the Broncos who eliminated Williams’ Steelers in the playoffs, but Williams also has that point covered.
Hahahaha u could have at qb for that team the defense was great but hey u just wanted me to comment u knew that https://t.co/5YVM0dfr4n
