Notre Dame needed a miracle, and that’s exactly what it got.
It appeared Virginia would upset the Fighting Irish after the Cavaliers took a one-point lead with 1:54 remaining in Saturday’s game. That meant Notre Dame needed to march the length of the field to set up at least a field-goal try with backup quarterback DeShone Kizer under center.
The Fighting Irish didn’t need a field goal, though, because Kizer found Will Fuller open for a 39-yard touchdown with just 12 seconds remaining.

That proved to be the difference in a 34-27 Notre Dame win.

That looks about right.
While the Irish celebrated the win, they weren’t exactly happy, either. Malik Zaire, their starting QB, broke his right ankle in the game and will be out for the season.
