Could Patriots Follow Eagles’ Super Bowl Roster Blueprint?

Philadelphia rolled in Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely rolled over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday.

Could the New England Patriots learn any lessons from that?

NESN’s Travis Thomas and George Balekji spoke about what could be taken away from Super Bowl LIX on Wednesday’s episode of “Foxboro Rush”.

“Howie Roseman is more powerful than your average GM,” Balekji pointed out. “He’s more powerful than (Chiefs general manager) Brett Veach. He’s more powerful than (Tennessee Titans general manager) Mike Borgonzi. He’s more powerful than (Detroit Lions general manager Brad) Holmes. Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore were hired this offseason because of Howie Roseman. (eagles owner) Jeffrey Laurie gave him the green light, ‘Hey, pay your coordinators.’

“… 2013, they picked Lane Johnson. 2018, they drafted Dallas Goedert, Josh Sweat and Jordan Mailata. 2020, they drafted Jalen Hurts in the second round… 2021, DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Milton Williams, Kenneth Gainwell. 2022, Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens and Reed Blankenship… 2023, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Kelee Ringo. 2024, they drafted Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, they traded for Jahan Dotson and Mekhi Becton.”

Balekji and Thomas would go on to discuss why those decisions were made possible, with the former making an argument that it all ties back to giving decision-makers enough rope to make mistakes without losing their jobs.
