The Bruins made a trade Tuesday, one largely focused on the future while also addressing the past.

Boston parted ways with forward Trent Frederic in a three-team agreement that lands the power forward in Edmonton. As part of the deal, the Bruins got back an AHL defenseman as well as two draft picks. Those two picks — a 2025 second-round selection that previously belonged to St. Louis and a 2026 fourth-rounder — are needed capital for a team that unloaded picks to aid Stanley Cup chasing in recent years.

One of those unloaded picks was the Bruins’ second-round selection this year that they traded to Washington in 2023 to help land Garnet Hathaway. Essentially, Tuesday’s Frederic deal replenishes that pick.

Here’s what the Bruins currently hold in the next two drafts:

Note: The Bruins traded their 2026 sixth-round pick to Minnesota as part of the Patrick Maroon deal in 2024.

Looking ahead, the Bruins are also currently without a third-round pick in 2027. That selection went to Columbus as part of the Andrew Peeke trade in 2024.

This is very much in flux, though, with the NHL trade deadline still a few days away. The Bruins will have until Friday, March 7, at 3 p.m. ET to add to — or subtract from — this list.
